The Secret Circle’s Chris Zylka Previews Jake’s ‘Dark’ Agenda

Posted by Ice with No Comments

Imagine, if you would, joining a show with a passionate fan base. Now imagine joining one with a fan base as crazy-passionate as that of The Secret Circle (Thursdays at 9/8c). Scary, right? So, needless to say, Chris Zylka was nine kindsa nervous when he was introduced as the CW series’ newest hunk.

“I have never been so anxious to know if [viewers] were going to like me, if they were going to hate me,” he says. “But so far, it seems as though they’re accepting Jake.”

Fans may be warming up to the new hottie, but it’ll take a lot more for the circle to accept the bad boy. Even with Cassie fighting for Jake’s inclusion, his portrayer acknowledges that “there’s no chance they’re all going to welcome [Jake] back in right away. [But still] he’s going to try to show them that he’s changed, and that [after] being gone for two years, [he] realized where his home was.”

Particularly tough for Jake to win over will be Adam (who’s still hurting over what he did to him and his dad) and his brokenhearted ex, Faye. “Adam will stop at nothing to make everyone realize what a bad seed [Jake] still is and how he really can affect the circle in a bad way,” previews Zylka. “Faye and Adam are definitely the ones that see he’s not the same, but they don’t know if it’s in a good way or a bad way.”

Then of course there’s the pesky fact that Jake is actually out to kill all of the town’s witches. Um, what is it that he hopes to accomplish by bumping off his own kind? “It’s sort of self-satisfaction,” explains the actor. “He blames what happened to his parents on this town and every witch in this town.” While the other members of the circle probably just cried a lot when their parents died, and were too young to know about their powers, Jake was older and wiser. Unfortunately, he also “dealt with it in a very dark, very dangerous way and left town.”

“[He] found that it’s not magic,” he continues. “It’s not witches. It’s dark magic. It’s where that dark magic can take people that is dangerous and that he hates.” Now, Jake is back because “there’s something about this town that’s very dark, and he needs to take care of it.”

But how does one reconcile being a witch with being a witch hunter? “Why not fight fire with fire?” laughs Zylka. Even if doing so means extinguishing a possible spark, so to speak, with Cassie? “I think there’s something that may be brewing [between them] – no pun intended – [but] Jake’s no dummy,” he says. “He’s not going to allow one person or one thought or one feeling to spoil something that he’s been working at for quite some time now.”

That said, he adds, “If there is anyone that could change Jake’s actions, it could be Cassie.”

Secret Circle Spoiler! Will Ethan Continue to Get Drunk?

Posted by Ice with No Comments

Every small town needs a resident drunk, and luckily for Chance Harbor, their drunk doubles as a hot dad. We’ve already seen the impact that booze-hounding has on Ethan Conant (Adam Harrington) – he get whimsical and chats at length about the stars and fate – but could his drinking habit cause him to lose control?

“I’ve always thought that if Ethan is drinking this much, he’s got to be holding a lot back,” says Adam Harrington. “And what that will look like when he unleashes it – and how, if he can control it or not, I don’t know. I think the great thing about Ethan is as the audience we don’t know how much of this has been his choice. How much he’s been choosing to sit on the sidelines and just kind of be the drunk and not really care… and how strong is he and how much is he actually capable of.”

So when will Ethan make the transition from drunk to sober?

“At the end of Episode 107, the audience is going to start to see Ethan,” Adam says. “Where he’s going to start being involved, and how he decides is really exciting…but you never know if he’s going to be able to hang on.”

It’s called a twelve step program, Ethan. Step 1: Stop being drunk. Step 2: Learn Quidditch. You get the idea.

Exclusive: Secret Circle Recruits Friday Night Lights’ Grey Damon for Some Dark Magic

Posted by Ice with No Comments

The Secret Circle has found its newest witchy hunk.

Former Friday Night Lights footballer Grey Damon is joining The CW’s freshman series in the potentially recurring role of Lee Labeque, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Lee, who first appears in Episode 10, is a sexy and mysterious twentysomething grifter type with a lot of confidence — and knowledge. He claims to come from Santeria heritage and runs an occult Botanica in the suburbs. He’s got a hint of danger about him, so it’s no surprise that resident bad girl Faye takes an interest in the guy and the dark side of magic in which he dabbles. Hmm, sounds like Faye is up to no good — what else is new? — maybe even trying to get her solo powers back.

In addition to FNL, Damon starred on ABC Family’s recently axed The Nine Lives of Chloe King.

Stepfanie Kramer has signed on for an episode of The Secret Circle, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. The 55-year-old actress, best known for her role as Dee Dee McCall on NBC’s Hunter, will portray Kate Meade, the equally complicated and strong mother of Charles (Gale Harold) and grandmother to Diana (Shelley Hennig).

The Secret Circle boss dissects Nick’s death and the coven’s possible replacement

Kate, who will first appear in Episode 10, is described as the kind of woman who can warm you with a smile but freeze you with a single glare, which is unfortunate for Charles, who will get caught in the middle of Dawn (Natasha Henstridge) and Kate’s hatred for one another. Maybe Charles learned his people skills from mommy?

The Secret Circle airs Thursdays at 9/8c on The CW.

Secret Circle Scoop

Posted by Ice with No Comments

The Secret Circle | Peanut butter meets chocolate when The CW’s supernatural newbie celebrates Halloween next Thursday. “You can expect a lot of sexy costumes,” exec producer Andrew Miller promises with a laugh. “Halloween’s a big holiday for our group because it’s the one day of the year they can really be themselves and no one notices. It’s a fun episode to let their witch flag fly free!” Ay, but therein lies the rub. “The problem is they’re not the only ones trying to blend in, and they get into a lot of trouble,” Miller warns. “They set out to have maybe the best Halloween party that any of them have ever experienced, and it goes badly pretty quickly.”
